From now on, leaves will be bursting out into variable shades of green.

March 25, 2011

Spring is springing here in the 303! Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal, a time of creation and play. The pleasure and pride E. Katie Holm, Cristy Road, and Amy Sakasitz put into their work seem emblematic of the power this season has to move us from winter’s doldrums into the full flush of summer. We hope they inspire you to take a chance and do something creative with your time – photography and baking, acting and writing, or whatever the March wind stirs in your blood.

We had the pleasure of experiencing Cristy Road’s work in person this week at the Denver ‘Zine Library. Road’s reading from her books Bad Habits and Indestructible, and from her forthcoming work Spit and Passion, accompanied by artwork from all three projects, was a real pleasure. Thanks to Cristy for venturing out into the flyover states, and thanks to the ‘Zine Library for providing a space for artists like Cristy to showcase their work.

In honor of Mother’s Day, 12 Questions will be featuring involved, lively, and engaging mothers for the month of May. We already have a few amazing mom’s lined up, but we want your suggestions. If you know an awesome lady who’s also an awesome mom, take a minute to visit the Nominations tab and send us her info. (And yes, we’re featuring Dads in June, so those ideas are welcome, also.)

Next week we get local again with Erika Napoletano aka Redhead Writing, then we swoop off to Toronto to help Late July celebrate her CD release, and we trek to Missoula, Montucky with Josh Vanek from Wantage Records, the man behind TOTALFEST. And we’ll also be breaking out our skateboards and soaking up some vitamin D.

Happy Spring, y’all, and see you next week!
