The Counselors

Fifteen-year veterans of the Canadian indie-rock scene, The Counselors combine distorted guitars and catchy melodies to produce songs that are pure alt-rock gold.

In 2008, the Counselors released their third album, “In From The Archive”. The album opened new horizons for the group, getting airplay on 75 independent radio stations around the world. In June 2008, the song “Any Other Place” reached No. 3 among 947 songs on ourstage.com, a site that promotes emerging pop artists. Three months later, the song “Sometimes” finished No. 12 of over 500 songs on the same site in the indie pop category.

In 2009, after several years in Halifax and Montreal, The Counselors resettled in Quebec and new members have joined the training. The current lineup includes founder Sebastien Theriault on vocals and guitar, Louis Martineau on lead guitar, Pier-Olivier Boivin on bass, Steve Gendron on drums, and co-founder Héléna Van Bockern on backing vocals and keyboards.

The “Brooklyn Sessions” EP is The Counselors’ latest release. The five songs were recorded in August 2010 at Newkirk Studios in Brooklyn.  The release of “Brooklyn Sessions” capped a busy year for The Counselors, who took the stage in Quebec City (the Imperial, the Sheaf, the Circle) and New York (Pianos).
