Denver has no shortage of old fashioned rock ‘n roll bands, and we’re happy to report that Lexigram aren’t one of them. This quartet forges their music from an amalgamation of technical proficiency, transcendent emotion, and piquant lyrics, and if that weren’t enough, these boys know how to shred. Don’t let the preppy haircuts fool you! At live shows, Lexigram combine their special brand of mind-altering rock ‘n roll with a dynamic visual show. Sound like fun? You bet!

Lexigram are Tim Kaminski (vox), Nate Huisgen (guitar), Brent Moran (bass), and Alvin Ramos (drums). They used to be known as Yerkish, but they (we think wisely) renamed their band in May 2011. The boys will celebrate the release of their new EP on Saturday, April 21st at the Gothic in Englewood, Colorado. Join them – it’s sure to be a party! In the meantime, check out their new track, “Zombie Cheer Camp” and read on!
1. What is your hometown?

Through careful triangulation taking into account our respective hometowns of Jersey City, NJ, Lewiston, NY, Millersburg, MO and Anchorage, AK, we have determined Lexigram’s hometown to be:  Athabasca Sand Dunes Provincial Park in Saskatchewan, Canada.

2. With what fictional character do you most identify?

The Mos Eisley Cantina Band.  The original 1977 version, not the CGI bullshit.

3. In the movie of your life, cast an actor to play you.

One actor skilled enough to portray our entire band at once?  Only Meryl Streep is so able.  Or maybe Nicholas Cage.

4. What work of art speaks to your soul?

Alvin (Drums):

Marilyn Monroe spread in Playboy

Brent  (Bass):

The last movement of Shostakovich’s 7th Symphony

Nate (Guitar):

The Niagara River

Tim  (Vocals):

This piece by Banksy:

Banksy Feeling

5. What books are you currently reading or recommending?

Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein, War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy, Song of Fire and Ice series by George R.R. Martin, Game Theory 101 by William Spaniel, The Road by Cormac McCarthy, and The Evolution of Bruno Littlemore by Benjamin Hale.

6. What song or album is currently in heavy rotation on your iPod?

How I Got Over by The Roots

Beethoven:  The Symphonies (Barenboim conducting)

Space Junkie by Amphibious Jones

Badmotorfinger by Soundgarden

7. What’s the last movie that made you cry?

Rambo:  First Blood Part II

8.  Cat person or dog person?

Cat.  No, dog.  No, cat.  Actually, this is a point of some contention amongst the band members.

9. What is more important, truth or kindness?

10.    How do you define sin?

Service Industry Night!

11.    How do you define virtue?

Voluptuous Iguanas Repeatedly Torturing Unprepared Elephants

12.   Design your headstone: What does it say? What does it look like?

We have decided that if we should die in a firey bus wreck, we would like to be immortalized with the construction of a fantastic concert hall with perfect acoustics.  In the hall, people will be able to play our instruments, or what’s left of them.  Creepy, right?

Bonus Question: Who would you like to see answer these questions?

The Inactivists, Don Cheadle, Ted Kaczynski, Papa Smurf
