Lovedrug are veterans of the mid-continent indie rock scene. Together this Ohio four-piece has been through major label upstream, A&R layoffs, landed album #2 on the Billboard 200 as an indie, saw their labed go bankrupt, produced a cathartic 3rd album to exorcise the demons, and played 700+ international dates over the past seven years. They’re now coming out the other side with their fourth album, Wild Blood, which is their hopeful manifesto for their future as a band.

This optimism seems well-founded. With a sound as addictive as their name, Wild Blood is both mature and fresh, showcasing their talent as individual musicians working as a finely tuned machine. They’re even getting some attention on MTV’s Buzzworthy Blog!

Founding member and lead singer Michael Shepard responded to the Questionnaire on behalf of the band. Lovedrug performs at Hi-Dive on May 1st with Denver favorites Take To The Oars. Head out to Hi-Dive tomorrow to check ’em out – what better reason do you need to stay out late on a school night!

Alliance, OH will always be our home. But right now it’s Nashville, TN

Ishmael from “Moby-Dick”

3. In the movie of your life, cast an actor to play you.

I would say Michael Pitt but he’s probably too good looking.

4. What work of art speaks to your soul?

“Paradise Lost” moves me every time I read it. I couldn’t imagine writing something so gorgeous, prolific, frightening and life changing. Therefor I admire and love it dearly.

5. What books are you currently reading or recommending?

I’m in between books at the moment, but I always like to recommend “the Little Prince.”

6. What song or album is currently in heavy rotation on your iPod?

“Passover” by the Black Angels.

7. What’s the last movie that made you cry?

“The Vicious Kind.” Adam Scott’s character is amazing in it. Very tragic though.

8. Cat person or dog person?

Cat. Dogs and I have never understood each other.

9. What is more important, truth or kindness?

Truth. Always the truth.

10. How do you define sin?

A moral rift.

11. How do you define virtue?

I don’t try.

12. Design your headstone: What does it say? What does it look like?

No headstone for me. I’d prefer to have my limp naked body tossed from a plane into the Bermuda Triangle.

Bonus Question: Who would you like to see answer these questions?

Abraham Lincoln.
