Tracy Weil

August 8, 2012

Tracy Weil makes amazing stuff happen in Denver. As the Marketing and Community Director for the Denver County Fair, Weil has created a colorful and innovative look for the event and is responsible for developing a recognizable campaign that every person in the city is acquainted with.

Weil is the Co-Founder of the River North Art District (RiNo)and runs his own studio/art space with tons of exhibition space and a tower that offers a view of Denver that you haven’t ever seen until you go up there and take it in.

As a visual artist, Weil takes his love of color and life to create work in paint, bronze, iron and clay. This love of art informs his business at Weilworks where he designs creative campaigns for Fortune 500 companies and local non-profits.

Basically, try NOT to be inspired when Tracy’s around!

1. What is your hometown?

I was born in Cedar Rapids Iowa and grew up in Aurora, Colorado.

2. With what fictional character do you most identify?

Gumby – Gumby is loved near and far for his good heart and kind nature. He’s an every-man hero who always leaves a place better than how he found it.

3. In the movie of your life, cast an actor to play you.

I’d say either Leonard Nimoy because of his Vulcan like qualities and creativity or Ru Paul because I know he’d serve up some uniqueness, nerve and talent.

4. What work of art speaks to your soul?

Van Gogh’s Sunflowers and The book The Thinks You Can Think by Dr. Suess

5. What books are you currently reading or recommending?

The Heirloom Tomato – From Garden to Table by Amy Goldman – As a heirloom hobbyist this is my new bible!

6. What song or album is currently in heavy rotation on your iPod?

Fun Boy Three – Our Lips are Sealed

7. What’s the last movie that made you cry?

The Artist

8.  Cat person or dog person?

Dog person for sure as I’m allergic to cats. We have two amazing dogs, Silo the Coonhound and Moose the Yorkie.

9. What is more important, truth or kindness?

10.    How do you define sin?

I define sin as buying a hybrid tomato at the grocery store that has been picked early and gassed to keep it fresh.

11.    How do you define virtue?

Virtue is freedom.

12.   Design your headstone: What does it say? What does it look like?

My headstone would probably be a large crown and would say  “Live! Life’s a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!” – Auntie Mame

Bonus Question: Who would you like to see answer these questions?

Edith Piaf
